Leaders Breakfast
IIDA Mid America Chapter is pleased to host our second annual Leaders Breakfast on Friday, August 22nd. The Leaders Breakfast is a prestigious international series that includes events in New York, Boston, Dallas, Chicago, San Francisco, Toronto, and Seattle. The Leaders Breakfast unites people from the design profession and the business community to discuss contemporary workplace issues and receive insight and inspiration from prominent leaders.
Our featured speaker is Thomas Stewart, Editor of the Harvard Business Review. Thomas A. Stewart is the Editor and Managing Director of the Harvard Business.
Review. In publication since 1922, the mission of Harvard Business Review is to improve the practice of management in a changing world. Harvard Business Review is the world’s preeminent management magazine, publishing cutting-edge, authoritative thinking on the key issues facing executives. Under Mr. Stewart's leadership, the magazine’s global reach has grown to include 11 licensed editions, in addition to its flagship U.S. edition, and HBR has twice been a finalist for the National Magazine Award for General Excellence. Prior to joining HBR, he was Editorial Director of Business 2.0 and a member of the Board of Editors of Fortune. In a series of Fortune articles, he pioneered the field of intellectual capital, which led to his groundbreaking 1997 book, Intellectual Capital: The New Wealth of Organizations. In turn, Intellectual Capital was named one of the most important business books of the year by the Financial Times, and has been translated into seventeen languages. It was followed early in 2002 by The Wealth of Knowledge: Intellectual Capital and the Twenty-first Century Organization which reveals how companies are applying the concept of intellectual capital to dramatically increase their success in the marketplace.
As part of the event, IIDA will honor Norman Polsky, Hon. IIDA. Norman was Chairman of Fixtures Furniture, founded in 1947. Norman is currently President of the Norman and Elaine Polsky Family Support Foundation. Through the Foundation, the Polskys have supported a remarkable number of non-profit groups, including professional foundations, hospitals, communities, music and art. In addition to contributing funds, they volunteer their time, energy and advice. Norman has been a long-time supporter of IIDA and the interior design profession throughout the years.
