Legislation Status in State of Missouri
Missouri has legislation in place that if you are practicing interior design, have passed the NCIDQ exam and register with the State of Missouri; you can become a Registered Interior Designer. A future legislative goal is to get an Interior Design Practice Act in place. From past experiences, this could take up to ten years for it to be passed and go into effect.
Missouri Coalition for Interior Design
The Missouri Coalition for Interior Design was created to inform, educate and provide ongoing advocacy on behalf of the interior design professional as qualified by education, experience and examination to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public. MCID encourages NCIDQ qualified interior designers to register with the state. MCID goals are:
- To increase the number of Missouri Registered Interior Designers.
- Educate interior designers that the legislation is viable in our State for all interior designers, not just commercial interior designers.
- Educate the design community as to what the credentials represent and how to educate clients.
- Educate the public, who are now using the State website, to find qualified interior designers for their projects.
Visit the Missouri Coalition for Interior Design website for more information.
