Lindsay Kauito Hampton, IIDA
“I joined IIDA to expand my network, gain access to continuing education, and participate in events that inspire and challenge me as a designer. Through my membership, I’ve been able to strengthen my professional development, collaborate with like-minded individuals, and build lasting relationships within Kansas City’s interior design community. Being a part of IIDA has also reinforced my commitment to creating thoughtful, innovative spaces that support and serve our clients.”
Emily Gaul, IIDA
“Being an IIDA member has helped me establish my roots in the KC design community, transforming once unfamiliar faces into incredible mentors. The professional development opportunities have been invaluable, allowing me to grow both personally and as a designer. IIDA has also empowered me to advocate confidently for my profession and reach new heights!”
Steven Scott, IIDA
“I first joined IIDA because it was encouraged by my firm leadership as a way to meet other young designers in Kansas City, as well as a way to find mentorship, outside of my firm. The Leading the Way program was the biggest draw for me at that time (designed to do just that), and I made some very valuable connections that have stayed strong to this day. After the program concluded I wanted to get more involved, so I joined the City Center board, and from there joined the Mid America Chapter board.
IIDA gave me a sense of belonging and another outlet to connect with like minded individuals in Kansas City. My friends are fantastic, but let's be real - they have no idea what we really do all day. It was less about the networking and more about the community I felt a value and excitement to be a part of. I've learned that as we get older, we don't make friends like we did on the playground, and you have to put yourself out there a little more. Maybe into a room of individuals you don't know for a happy hour or to work at Harvesters for the afternoon - but some of the best friends I have now, I met because of IIDA and doing just that, and I couldn't be more grateful to be a member of this organization.”
