This quarter's event will be led by Erin Nybo. The event will be hosted in the West Bottoms, the address will be shared with attendees the morning of the event. Our IIDA Curated Connections events intentionally bring together designers with diverse experience levels. Whether you are a new designer in the industry or a seasoned professional, we'd love to have you join us for this unique mentorship experience.
Erin Nybo’s work is highlighted by her extensive experience leading clients through early visioning & concepting, programming & planning and interpreting early design through all phases of the design process. Her constant involvement leads to a clear expression of the client’s values and identity. Much of her professional experience has been in the planning and design of health and wellness spaces. Her deep knowledge and reasoned approach to the application of the design concept results in environments that meet the practical demands of these facilities, yet connect with the emotional needs of all who enter. Erin is currently on the Kansas City Chamber's Healthy KC Workplace Wellness Action Team and is the founding President of the Heartland Chapter of Women in Healthcare. Additionally, KCBJ recognized Erin’s community leadership as a NextGen Leader in 2019 and Ingram’s recognized her in their 40 Under Forty in 2022.

ABOUT
The IIDA Mid-America Chapter is so excited for our new Big Design Gala (BDG) signature event on Friday, October 17, 2025. Teams will be given a box of surprise materials and have one week to create something innovative, resourceful, or aesthetically pleasing. Teams will need to work together to brainstorm ideas and refine their design in a short window. This challenge encourages teams to think outside the box and utilize their creativity. We are excited to announce that all team slots have been filled!
The team's final designs will be on display the night of the Big Design Gala at Czanne KC. The designs will be evaluated based on creativity, story, and overall visual impact. The panel of distinguished judges will perform the judging the night of the event. Awards include: People’s Choice Award, Best Narrative, Best Use of Materials and Best of Show.
**Tickets are expected to sell out, so don't wait!**

This event will be just like a true gallery opening. We will be serving appetizers and drinks. We will not have seating to encourage everyone to wander around the gallery. We hope you can join us in celebrating our community of innovators and imaginative individuals.
