We'll be learning about Fractals, and their capacity to take elements from nature to help reduce stress in learning environments. At the heart of this experience lies the visual language of fractals: intricate patterns found in nature that, when intentionally integrated into the built environment, have been shown to reduce stress and support psychological well-being. Today, groundbreaking research on fractal dimensions and neurological responses has been translated into tangible design elements and product innovations, marking a new era where science and design intersect to create healthier, restorative spaces for people to thrive.

This event’s discussion will focus on Interior Design Advocacy, exploring Missouri’s recently enacted legislation that creates independent practice rights for interior designers and what this could mean for the Kansas design community. The discussion will be led by Meghan Dudek and Katie Kenagy of Kansas City, who played pivotal roles in advocating in Missouri. Our IIDA Curated Connections events brings together designers with diverse experience levels, so whether you are a new designer in the industry or a seasoned professional, we'd love to have you join us for this unique mentorship experience.
Make & Mingle - Belger Arts

Interior Design students and professionals are invited to discover the excitement of glass blowing with our one-time experiences — perfect for getting a taste of what it’s like to create with molten glass.
Professional glass blowers will guide you step-by-step through shaping and adding color, making this a memorable adventure for everyone.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
-This event will start promptly at 5:30pm with an introduction to the studio, a talk about safety, and a demonstration of how the event project is made.
- After the demonstration, each person will get a turn to make their own object with the help of a professional glass blower.
- Each participant gets to choose their own color.
- Wear comfortable breathable clothing made of natural fibers (like cotton) not synthetic, and closed toed shoes.
- Safety glasses are required. We have plenty available for you to use, but feel free to bring your own if you wish.

Curated Connections: Inside KC
August 5th, the Professional Development Committee is gathering a group of aspirational Kansas City designers to discuss Interior Design’s role in growing Kansas City on a national and global scale.
A casual visioning hour will be hosted from 3:00pm-4:00pm in the historic West Bottoms; chatting guaranteed over drinks and curated questions. Discuss alongside IIDA’s CEO, Cheryl Durst, who’s stopping in town to hear about design in KC.
From 4:00pm-5:00pm, a signature Curated Connections panel will take place with leading panelists from Kansas City’s design community.

Site Tour | Exploration Place Destination Playscape Tour
Join IIDA and AIA Wichita on an exclusive guided tour of Exploration Place’s new Destination Playscape.
6.5 acres of immersive outdoor experience along the Arkansas River designed to celebrate Kansas’ landscape, heritage, and identity through 10 thoughtfully curated environments that blend play, education, and storytelling through landscape design.
The tour will be led by landscape architecture firm Hoerr Schaudt, who will travel from Kansas City to share insights into the design vision and process behind this dynamic new destination.
Take Me out to the Design Crawl
The Wichita Design Community invites you to attend the second annual Summer Design Crawl. We will crawl between three locations and network with other professionals in the Wichita design community along the way. There will be a bus to provide transportation between stops where we will keep the party moving! Each stop will have food and drinks.
A $25 donation for entry will be benefit League 42 (Wichita Little League Baseball). This gets you in the door to all three locations with food, drinks, raffle items (additional tickets available to purchase to increase your odds) and summer games. Feel free to join us at any poin in the evening.
There will be a trophy for the person voted best dressed at our last stop. Dress up like your favorite baseball player, mascot or fan! We encourage you to think outside the box and have some fun!

Donation Drive for ReStart KC Shelter
We’re partnering with reStart Inc., a Kansas City nonprofit providing emergency shelter, case management, and housing support for individuals and families. ReStart is expanding its services with a new family shelter featuring 45 lodge-style rooms—studio, 2‑bedroom, and 3‑bedroom units with kitchenettes—to better meet the growing need for safe, stable housing.
To help furnish these rooms for families moving in, we’re hosting a community donation drive. Our team will be stationed at three local coffee shops collecting new or gently used household essentials, and donors will receive a complimentary coffee as a thank you. Local firms can also request an office donation box, which we will deliver starting May 18th and later pick up.
Items Needed:
- Bedding & Linens: sheet sets (twin–king), comforters, pillows, blankets, towels, washcloths, dish towels
- Kitchen Essentials: plates, cups, bowls, mugs, silverware, pots/pans, utensils, mixing bowls, measuring cups, Tupperware, ice cube trays

Trivia Night!
Join us for an evening of friendly competition and unforgettable fun at our upcoming Trivia Night on Thursday, May 21st! Doors open at 5:00 PM and trivia will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Expect surprising facts, lots of laughs, and plenty of “who even knows that?!” moments along the way.
Spots are limited, so start rallying your dream team now. Tables will go on sale at the end of April. Each table is $200 and includes 8 tickets, plus dinner and drink tickets for the table.
